About Gombe Secondary School

School motto "BALANDIZA KIBAZE" school mission "To produce God fearing, responsible and self reliant citizens through quality education" School vision "To be the leading mixed boarding secondary school in Uganda." Our Theme "Collectively we shall lead." Our Curriculum. Gombe Secondary School follows a syllabus provided by the National Curriculum Development Centre in all subjects. It accepts students from the age of 13 years into the lower school where they follow a comprehensive range of subjects in preparation for U.N.E.B examinations. The "O" Level programme is four years with S.1 and S.2 offering a range of up to 18 subjects while those in S.3 and S.4 will offer 10 subjects. The "A" level programme is two years and students will be allowed to take up to four principle subjects. Subjects that are taught at Gombe. English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, History, Geography, Islam, C.R.E, Luganda, Literature, Arabic, German, French, Agriculture, Fine art, Technical drawing, Entrepreneurship, Commerce, Home management, Additional maths, Computer, Qur'an, Physical education and Piascy. Examinations. We examine our students with three categories of examinations; Beginning of term(BOT) that is always given in the first week after of every term and contributes 40% to the overall marks of the term. End of term(EOT) that is always given in the last two weeks of every term and contributes 60% to the overall marks of the term. Continuous testing in every subject that makes our students in books and discussions. School Fees Payments. Payment for all school dues should be made in the bank with the provided bank-slips. SCHOOL RULES AND REGULATIONS The Secondary Education encompasses all elements required to achieve the academic goals; and gets involved in both the character molding and the dispensation of knowledge which is hitherto achieved. It is therefore, paramount that the students, teachers, and parents of this school observe these rules and regulations to bind them in order to achieve the objectives, the school mission statement, and all the academic goals. The following are strictly forbidden Alcohol and narcotic drugs. Smoking. Stealing. Violence, insolence to any member of staff or Prefect and use of vulgar language and vernacular. Leaving the school campus without permission. Use of radios and other musical instruments. Missing class without permission. Shouting and any form of noise which may disturb the peace of others. Trespass, Boys entering girls' hostels and vice versa. Students going to staff quarters. Walking on grass or across the fence. Indecent dressing (i.e. mini skirts with slits, trousers for girls etc). Engaging in love affairs. Unnecessary movements during class and prep time. Seeing visitors on any day other than visitation. Cooking. The following are a must Class attendance. Homework and assignments. Tests and examination. Prep attendance. Attendance to all school functions i.e assembly, games and sports, meals etc. General cleaning. Punctuality to all school functions. Observing lights out at 11:00p.m. Attendance of prayers. Students must observe the following Avoid Fancy hair styles i.e. French cuts, long hair beyond 1.5 inch. Avoid make-ups (e.g. use of lipstick, painting nails). Black and flat shoes (with socks for boys and girls 'O' level). All forms of illnesses should be reported to the school nurse immediately. DIFFERENT HOUSES IN GOMBE SECONDARY SCHOOL Being in school is much more than academic success. Our students participate in a wide variety of games and sports as well as music dance and drama to enhance physical fitness and nurture talent.
